Her Story.
The Black Lives Matter movement was created in 2013 in response to the unjust acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer, George Zimmerman. The goal of this movement is to: affirm Black folks’ place in humanity, recognize their contributions to society, and their resilience and determination in the face of deadly oppression in society. #BlackLivesMatter is in support of ALL Black Lives, the movement supports black women, especially black trans women—black lives who have been violated. To support this movement, you do not only have to be black, but you can be of any ethnic background, any gender, and can have any sexual preference, #BlackLivesMatter is not about discrimination.
